Phoenix Reunion
By John Withers
Now there's all sorts of strokes,
I do declare.
There's the stroke of luck, a
stroke of the hair,
A stroke of genius, and the stroke
of despair.
But the Phoenix Club is there , to
help and make repair,
with exercise and chat, and craft
and this and that,
like coffee, games and singing,
yes we had the rafters ringing.
We had some laughs, we had some
tears,
We had some fun over the years.
We've served some meals coffee and
tea and such delights
Done gardening, repairs to
furniture, doors and lights.
I suppose it still goes on - dear
me I ought to know,
I should have kept in touch
although,
- I hear the club is thriving.
Well done to those who still,
support and
lend a hand and do it with a will.
So thanks to those who've helped
both present and the past
Over 30 glorious years
Long may the Phoenix last.
