The Club

The Phoenix Stroke Club is run for its members and aims to be the first choice social club for people who have suffered a stroke or other neurological disorder in and around Horsham, West Sussex.

The Club organises activities that aim to restore its members confidence which has usually been shattered by their illness thereby assisting their social and speech rehabilitation.

The Club provides a stimulating environment where Members can receive specialised physical and mental exercise including interaction with others.

In contrast to other day care centres and respite clubs for the elderly and infirm, the Phoenix Stroke Club specifically caters for people with disabilities arising from a neurological disorder.

Its social groups meet on a Tuesday and Wednesday principally during school term time.

On Thursday mornings a Supported Communications group provides an opportunity for its members to exercise and improve their communication skills, mainly, on a one-to-one basis.

The Club house is in Horsham, in the grounds of Forest Community School, behind the Youth Wing.

The Club is a registered charity numbered 278998, run by a manager under the guidance of the Trustees and supported by a team of willing volunteers.

The Club is affiliated to the nationally organised Stroke Association.

Members continually express their appreciation for the efforts of the Manager and her volunteers.

This website is a window into the Club.
